I have had several Inquiries about Letters sent to Homeowners about mandatory Back Flow Irrigation system testing per State Law. Letters are now being sent in zones determined by the Twp. When you get a letter is not known; but all homeowners with outside irrigation systems will be receiving a letter and will be required to complete the form by a certified master plumber to show compliance.
Tests run from $95 dollars to $115 dollars. If plastic parts, washer, springs, seals are found to be ineffective and not functioning properly then you would most likely have to spend an additional 50$ to $300 dollars depending on parts, damage etc. that the plumber finds wrong. Unfortunately most of our homes are at the 22-year mark in age and if all those parts are still original then the back flow will most likely fail the pressure test and the guts may need replacing. This is to protect that individual home owner from having fertilizer, contaminants, fecal matter etc. pushed back into your facets and drinking water in your home.
Local Canton Master Plumber and Park School employee ROB, owner of Wet Works Plumbing will be the only contact I recommend. He is fair, priced below the average and will not rip off his neighbors and will only replace the parts needed to pass the test. It may be as simple as turning over a plastic washer or as complicated as changing the bell housing unit or just the interior springs and guts.
Please pass along this info to anyone wishing to use Robs service.
